"Walking a Line" in an introduction to the history of walking examined through direct experiences in a range of environments that are mediated by sketches/notations, the study of historical representations of art/visual culture, and relevant readings. Walking is recognized as possessing prehistoric roots, codification in the Modern era, but with continuing contemporary relevance. The title is loosely borrowed from the artist Paul Klee's definition of drawing.
